Well...hmmm. The first Abbi Glines book I read was The Vincent Boys and though I had some very mild issues with it, for the most part I found it enjoyable. Glines has so many fans and has so many rave reviews that I thought I would start at the beginning. Breathe, I believe, is Glines first novel so that is where I continued my Glines novel travel. Maybe that was not such a great idea.I can't say that I didn't like the premise behind Breathe, it sounds fun enough. It really was all execution. The conversations were way too robotic. These are teenagers...teens use contractions. Lots of them. Not these teens though.Add to that some instant love, literally; they spend a couple of hours together and it is all the sudden undying love. Ugh.Then sprinkle on a dash of a somewhat simpering heroine and what recipe do you have? Not one I want to be cooking. There were a few endearing moments and some side characters that had potential. It wasn't all bad.I'm chalking it up to it being Glines first book, since I enjoyed The Vincent Boys. I will continue to read her work, perhaps with a grain of salt...just in case.
